The holiday adjunct of EMI's excellent "Legends Of Rock 'n' Roll" series, Legends Of Christmas Past (1992) is a stocking stuffed with goodies for collectors - several of which are pretty damn rare. Subtitled "A Rock 'n' R&B Holiday Collection," that describes it about as well I could - twenty tracks, almost all of them arguably "essential," stretching from 1949 (Amos Milburn's amiable "Let's Make Christmas Merry Baby") to 1968 (an improbable collaboration between Canned Heat and the Chipmunks).
